Years of sitting at a computer and long commutes really took a toll on my health and fitness. After being discharged from the Marine Corps, my exercise and eating habits changed and I steadily gained more and more weight each year. I eventually became fearful of having a heart attack. On my own, with exercise and dieting, I was often mildly successful in losing weight, but I couldn't get near the goal I wanted to achieve. Ultimately, I put back on half or more the weight I had lost. Finally, I decided to get help.
I have been on the program since mid-November 2009. I have learned to treat food as fuel for my body and in five months, I have lost approximately 50 lbs... and still going. For the first time in years, I wear large sizes rather than XL, XXL, or XXXL. I now run up to 5 miles nearly every day and increase my distance and speed each week. I now have the energy and stamina to participate in the things I love: martial arts and mountain biking. And, not a day goes by that people don't tell me how great I look and how proud they are of me.
